HSM Simulator
HarSM is a java webbased HSM simulator that performs the standard functions of ISO 8583 DES security.
During my work in the Financial IT Sector I've often encountered situation where during development phase the developers team doesn't have access to a HSM or for practicality and maybe budget reasons often resort to try to find a software based solution for all the standard HSM functions for the ISO 8583 communication.
Added with the standard learning curve associated for inexperienced developers in Thales HSM configuration and racal communication protocol often complicates a relatively straightforward problem.
HarSM is a compilation of all the standard most commonly used ISO 8583 DES based security actions, at least the ones I've encountered for banks and other major financial bill payment switching institutions in Asia. It provides a webmenu and HTTP get based interface so you can use it programatically from your application via simple HTTP GET method.
HarSM v 0.7 has the following features
- DES/TDES(Triple DES)/2TDES key generation
- DES/TDES/2TDES key generation from components (XOR Method) similar to the thales FK command
- Basic LMK(Local Master Key) support
- Key Check Value Calculation
- DES/TDES/2TDES Encryption/Decryption with ISO 8583 ANSI ECB standard
- Key Translation ( transalate a key wrapped in one key to another key)ZMK, TAK, ZPK
- MAC Generation (ANSI CBC Standard, most commonly used)
- PINBLOCK Generation (ISO Format 0, most commonly used)
- CVV and PVV Calculation for VISA, Mastercard and AMEX
You can download the software from the download link, you need at least JDK 1.5 to run, I reccomend 1.6. Unzip the file and to start just type java -jar HSMp.jar
With the default settings, the webmenu is started at port 8080, while the http interface is at 9090.
I hope you find this software usefull, detailed api documentation are in the documentation menu. Feel free to email me at hairi@m-sinergi.com

Pay For It
PayForIt
Payforit is the new payment service, supported by all licensed UK mobile operators, designed to make it easy to pay for low cost services on the mobile phone.
First announced in March 2006, the Payforit scheme has been developed by the operators to promote a trustworthy and consistent standard for paying by mobile, so that consumers can buy with confidence when they are making one-off payments or setting up subscription services via their phone.
With Payforit, consumers don’t need a credit card or bank account to use the service – they don’t even need to sign up or register any details. All they need is their mobile phone.
The UK licensed mobile network operators have accredited a number of Payment Intermediaries across a differing range of criteria for their suitability to operate a trusted payment scheme to ensure that the best interests of mobile consumers are protected while conducting online purchasing. These Accredited Payment Intermediaries ensure that transactions are managed and processed in accordance with the Payforit Scheme Rules.
This will ensure that the payment experience for consumers is consistent, transparent and user-friendly at all times. These improvements in user experience will help instil consumer confidence in paying by mobile, generating repeat business and improved conversion rates for merchants.
Initially, Payforit will support micropayments (generally <£10) for services purchased on mobile portals, providing a quick and simple billing option and potential access to over 52 million users* in the UK. From May 2007 Payforit has been extended to support web transactions also, opening up new revenue streams for many merchants.

Credit Card Processing
Authorize.Net Credit Card Processing
What We Do
Connecting a Web site to the payment processing networks is exceptionally difficult and typically beyond the expertise and technical resources of most online merchants. Instead, merchants can easily connect to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway , which provides the complex infrastructure and security necessary to ensure fast, reliable and secure transmission of transaction data. Authorize.Net manages the routing of transactions just like a traditional credit card swipe machine you find in the physical retail world, however, Authorize.Net uses the Internet instead of a phone line. See our credit card processing diagram. The Authorize.Net Payment Gateway is available 24/7 for processing transactions. We also offer a number of value-adding services to assist merchants in managing their businesses and protecting themselves from fraud. Additionally, the free, Authorize.Net Verified Merchant Seal can be added to a merchant’s Web site to help build consumer confidence.Merchants log into a secure Web site called the Merchant Interface to manage their transactions, configure account settings, view account statements, generate reports and more. Since the payment gateway is a browser-based, hosted solution, there is no software to install or maintain.Typical service fees—setup, monthly, and per- transaction—are determined by our resellers. See our pricing page for more information. The payment gateway offers many features and options that can be tailored to specific merchant business models. Kannel: Open Source WAP and SMS gateway
Kannel: Open Source WAP and SMS gateway
Kannel is a compact and very powerful open source WAP and SMS gateway, used widely across the globe both for serving millions of short messages (SMS) and pushing WAP service indications.
Kannel is a WAP and SMS gateway.
SMS, short message services, are widely used all over the world in huge amounts. The main use for Kannel is to link HTTP based services to various SMS centers using obscure protocols.
WAP, short for Wireless Application Protocol, is a collection of languages and tools and an infrastructure for implementing services for mobile phones. Traditionally such services have worked via normal phone calls or short textual messages (e.g., SMS messages in GSM networks). Neither are very efficient to use, nor very user friendly. WAP makes it possible to implement services similar to the World Wide Web.
Unlike marketers claim, WAP does not bring the existing content of the Internet directly to the phone. There are too many technical and other problems for this to ever work properly. The main problem is that Internet content is mainly in the form of HTML pages, and they are written in such a way as to require fast connections, fast processors, large memories, big screens, audio output, and may require fairly efficient input mechanisms. That's OK, since they hopefully work better for traditional computers and networks that way. However, portable phones have very slow processors, very little memory, abysmal and intermittent bandwidth, little screens and extremely awkward input mechanisms. Most existing HTML pages simply will not work on them.
WAP defines a completely new markup language, the Wireless Markup Language (WML), which is simpler and much more strictly defined than HTML. It also defines a scripting language, WMLScript, which all browsers are required to support. To make things even simpler for the phones, it even defines its own bitmap format (Wireless Bitmap, or WBMP).
HTTP is also too inefficient for wireless use. By using a semantically equivalent, but binary and compressed format it is possible to reduce the protocol overhead to a few bytes per request, instead of up to hundreds of bytes. Thus, WAP defines a new protocol stack to be used. However, to make things simpler also for the people actually implementing the services, WAP introduces a gateway between the phones and the servers providing content to the phones.
The WAP gateway talks to the phone using the WAP protocol stack, and translates the requests it receives to normal HTTP. Thus, the content providers can use any HTTP servers, and can utilize existing know-how about HTTP service implementation and administration.
In addition to protocol translations, the gateway also compresses the WML pages into a more compact form, to save bandwidth on the air and to further reduce the phone's processing requirements. It also compiles WMLScript programs into a byte-code format.

Java Card
Java Card technology provides a secure environment for applications that run on smart cards and other devices with very limited memory and processing capabilities. Multiple applications can be deployed on a single card, and new ones can be added to it even after it has been issued to the end user. Applications written in the Java programming language can be executed securely on cards from different vendors.
